IT’S HENNES & MAURITZ’S YEAR. It's opened new stores in the United States and has, as we went to press, reported improvements in earnings, prompting a share price rise. It's overtaken Gap as the largest clothing retailer in market-capitalization terms. And its annual Christmas lingerie campaign is another good reason to celebrate.
    After complaints about last year’s Claudia Schiffer campaign—it was H&M's highest-profile campaign with requests for unused posters going beyond the Swedish company's expectations—it was promised that 2001 would be more subdued.
   With Bridget Fonda modelling the line (the first time an actress has done so for Christmas since Kylie Minogue in 1998—and the Australian is more singer than actress) and Mario Testino holding the lens, the campaign remains sexy but more personal than the Helmut Newton-inspired shoot last year by Max Vadukul.
