Samantha
Treacy
Samantha Treacy is one very smart cookie. While she was
part of the pretty girls parade that defined the season, she
managed to inject enough difference to stand out from the rest of
pack just the same. Her collection was one part bohemian hippie
girl, one part Harriet Nelson (of 1950s TVs
Ozzie and Harriet) on acid and all together wonderful. Best
of show here were her light- as-air swing skirt sun dresses, her
youthful knee-length hip-hugging shorts and the general air of confidence
she exuded in her cuts and shapes. Ms Treacy's foundation tones
and colours (greens, bieges, blues and girly-girl pinks) mixed rather
seamlessly with her floral and paisley prints, with white being
the other foundation colour keeping the anchored and grounded in
a certain reality.
Cat Swanson
DESIGNER Catherine Swanson
was born in Agana, Guam, but spent most of her childhood in Port
Arthur, Texas. In her early college career, at the University of
Texas at Austin, Cat focused on language, studio art, and pre-medical
studies, but it was not until her third year that fashion became
her main point of interest. Ms Swanson continued her studies by
completing course work at both Central St Martin's and Oxford University
in England. Upon gaining both a BS
in Fashion Design and BA in English
from the University of Texas, she moved to London to work under
leading British designer, Arkadius.
