ELIZABETH ARDEN opened its newly renovated flagship store at 691 Fifth Avenue, New York, with its global spokesperson and Academy Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones to do the honours.

Joining her was chairman and CEO Scott Beattie, who cut the ribbon with Zeta-Jones.

The store features the famous Red Door—the symbol which has become synonymous with the Elizabeth Arden brand and has become part of its logotype.

The company states that the Red Door has been at the 691 Fifth Avenue address since 1930. The store itself, meanwhile, has been completely modernized and reflects the brand’s current positioning as a ‘modern classic in prestige beauty,’ it says.

To celebrate its heritage, today and through this weekend (March 8–9, 2008) Elizabeth Arden will feature its famous cult favourite Eight Hour Cream at its original, 1930 introductory price of US$5.

The store has one more clever feature: the telephone number is (212) MS-ARDEN. •
