Autumn beauty, according to MACAutumn beauty, according to MAC

MAC summarizes autumn–winter 2008–9 into five trends, based on its behind-the-scenes catwalk work

Vivienne Westwood—De-vine

MAC, which has make-up artists present at every major fashion week, has summarized the autumn–winter 2008–9 beauty trends from the catwalks into five categories. Artsy is meant to evoke painting’s old masters and impressionists; Honed sees a return to innocence with a natural look (something we at Lucire have consistently advocated for years—this trend will not go away); De-Vine is reminiscent of deep reds, inspired by wine, with Rubenesque reds for lips; Glamodrama says it’s OK to go extreme with drama and ’80s-retro; and Seventease, with the return of the ’70s glam rock and charcoal liner. Our advice: natural will stay but we do forecast more of the garish ’70s and ’80s stuff. Enjoy the images, for your inspiration. •
