L'Obsession MagnifiqueL'Obsession Magnifique

Anne Hathaway is the star of Lancôme’s Magnifique commercial, directed by Peter Lindbergh. We have behind-the-scenes images from last spring’s shoot

LAST SPRING, photographer Peter Lindbergh directed his Lancôme Magnifique commercial starring Anne Hathaway at the Petit Palais by the Seine. Featured on Lucire are images from the shoot, showing Hathaway rehearsing—and while the finished film is probably the actress at her most alluring, the behind-the-scene photographs are moody and introspective, and have a sense of romance about them.

Hathaway arrived on set at 8 P.M., two hours after the crew began the set-up, wearing a black satin corseted dress. The shoot took place over two nights, with model Roman Seefeldt as the beau who pursues Hathaway after seeing her at a party.

Oscar-nominated John Mathieson served as director of photography, with Tho Van Tran as artistic director. Lighting night scenes is never easy, but Mathieson has accomplished this not just for the actors, but for Paris, which must be the third star on this film.

The making-of video can be seen on the Lucire TV site. Lancôme Magnifique, meanwhile, is now available on counters in New Zealand, ranging from the shower gel at NZ$80 to the 75 ml eau de parfum at NZ$180. US customers can see the range online at the Lancôme site.
