THE 2011 SWIMWEAR SHOWS in Miami Beach, organized by IMG and sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, indicate a more colourful beachscape next year. Designers were less afraid to play with colour, with fuchsia trim being more evident than it has in recent years, while Olasul showed that even men could wear pink without sacrificing their masculinity.

The second trend that appeared prominently was a more adventurous approach to cutting—whether it was hinting at bondage and bandages, to exaggerated fishnets, to more daring shapes in swimwear.
