Jessica Stam Before and after Pat McGrath’s smoky eye make-up.
Getting the smoky eye look
Top international make-up artist Pat McGrath shows us how to get the smoky eye look, working on professional model Jessica Stam
Pat McGrath knows her stuff: not only is she Cover Girl’s global creative design director, she works behind the scenes on international catwalk shows, with such names as Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana.
In our video above, McGrath works on Canadian model Jessica Stam, showing how to get a smoky eye look.
This is a look that she employs in editorials and on the runways.
McGrath makes it look easy, but with some of Cover Girl’s products this season, it can be.
She begins by getting the foundation right, with Cover Girl’s TruBlend liquid make-up, which she tests on the neck first, before blending it into the hairline. After getting the foundation seamless, she begins on the eye with the Simply Ageless concealer, using a brush, going from the bottom lashes, to the corner, and around the nose, picking out any shadowy areas.
The Liquiline Blast eyeliner is next: apply this around the eye, then smudge and perfect the line. This single product does the trick very effectively for the first layer.
Cover Girl’s Eye Enhancers eye shadow is next, to blend out the eye, applying it up to the socket line.
McGrath then recommends the Intense ShadowBlast, a primer with pigment, which gives what she calls a luminescent finish. Cover Girl’s LashBlast volume mascara enhances the lashes from root to tip.
She finishes with the LipPerfection lip liner, the LipPerfection Lipcolor for a nude lip shade, and blush. •
