On Aura Tout Vu finishes with a flirty bridal dress; Oscar Carvallo comes out with his final haute couture creation for autumn–winter 2013–14

Gustavolins
Gustavo Lins is a Brazilian-born designer based in Paris. Lins presented his spring–summer 2014 menswear collection on the prominent stairs at le Palais Brongniart, also recognized as la Palais de la Bourse in Paris. The 19th-century edifice strongly emphasizes the beauty of Parisian architecture.

Male models of different ages wore colourfully chic, sometimes subtle, ensembles. The Gustavolins man is distinguished as vigorous, carrying confidence and poise. From knee-high shorts to slightly baggy pantsuits, the general overview of the collection is simple with a hint of complexity. Black, grey, beige and shades of blue were the main colours.

On Aura Tout Vu

On Aura Tout Vu, which translates into ‘You think you’ve seen it all’, was founded in 1998. Before diving into the fashion scene, they mainly collaborated with high-end design houses in 1995–9, producing fashion accessories. Ready-to-wear brands included John Galliano, Paco Rabanne, Nina Ricci and Guy Laroche; haute couture brands comprised of Christian Lacroix, Givenchy and Christian Dior.

It wasn’t until 2002 that On Aura Tout Vu presented their first haute couture collection and, in 2003, they were prepared to introduce their ready-to-wear.

This collection was vibrant, chic and geometrically extraordinary as it was presented at the garden of the Palais Royal. Underneath the shade of the tall trees and against an all-white background, the set-up was perfect, to an intimate group of attendees ready to indulge. Hues of effervescent green, pink, orange and blue exposed a striking effect, with lavish and delicate looks. Short skirts revealed long legs while pants accentuated height. The final piece continued the theme: though a wedding dress, it was short, unique and flirtatious—the only length was in the veil.

Oscar Carvallo

Oscar Carvallo’s collection was full of character, with bold features ready for a woman to conquer the world. Last season, the designer took over the runway with haute couture pieces inspired by the ocean as trendy mermaids came to life. Carvallo uses a very different inspiration for his autumn–winter 2013–14 collection.

Carvallo’s woman was fierce, with a delicate, gentle appeal at La Mairie in the fourth arrondissement in Paris. The main theme of the collection, Eagle Eye, reflected nature’s beautifying elements. Feathers, fur, silk, tulle, organza were all in the mix as were chic red, striking gold, and pure white, while a blue hue exemplified the soft touch of winter. Bird sounds echoed in the vast room as certain pieces included extensively wide fluttering wings.

Carvallo closed the show as he stepped out with a model dressed in an off-the-shoulder long-sleeve wedding gown. •
