Naumi brings its award-winning flair to New Zealand

VOLANTE Now with five properties, Singapore-HQed Naumi injects its flair and luxury into three New Zealand centres

Naumi Studio Hotel in Wellington has gone up a notch since it came under new ownership

Naumi Hotels is well known in Singapore, but it’s a name that’s relatively new to New Zealand—though that’s soon changing as it puts its mark on some iconic properties around the country.

A family business that prides itself on a sense of modern luxury and attention to detail, Naumi’s New Zealand properties include some of our favourites—and we can’t wait to see how they’ve put their touch on them.

We’ve been by Naumi Studio Hotel in Wellington, which long-time Wellingtonians will know as Trekkers. Under previous management the hotel became more premium offering, and initial signs are that Naumi has taken things up another notch. The Bar is a comfortable place to be, they’ve made great use of the light and altered the colours in the lobby, and the suites themselves have immaculate appointments, right down to the Christian Lacroix cushion in the executive suite.

Reviewed in a print edition 15 years ago, the Dairy in Queenstown, now formally the Dairy Private Hotel by Naumi Hotels, is another property that has benefited from the Naumi touch. This was always one of the most comfortable boutique spots in the resort town, and Naumi has added to the warmth and coziness of its spaces and suites.

If you’re in Queenstown, then there’s also the Central Hotel, with its hip and modern appointments, all conveniently located in Sydney Street. At the other end of the country, Naumi Hotel Auckland Airport is ideally situated for those who need a space that’s handy to the country’s busiest airport, but one that’s not devoid of colour and sparkle.

A fifth property in Wellington, the former Quality Hotel, is currently closed for renovation, but expect more creative touches, the kind that has already netted Naumi international awards from some leading trade bodies and publications. •
