August 6, 2009/15.08

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced a second venue as part of London Fashion Week this September. The new venue is located at 180 The Strand, just moments from Somerset House. It provides a contrasting modern backdrop for designers, showrooms, bar, café and installations. This additional venue builds on last season’s successful concept of a central fashion hub, this time in the centre of London.
The location will house a selection of directional ready-to-wear and accessories’ designers and brands including Ksubi, YMC, PUMA by Mihara, Dr Marten’s and Melissa Plastic Dreams. Robinson Pfeffer showroom will present a collective of Australian designers including Tina Kalivas, Alpha 60 and Arnsdorf. Six Showroom will be representing menswear designers bStore Apparel, S***R (Swear) and shoe brands Opening Ceremony from NYC and Surface to Air from Paris. Estethica, the BFC’s ethical designer initiative sponsored by Monsoon, will be showcased here.
Independent fashion showcase On|Off will also be based in 180 The Strand, bringing a catwalk venue and On|Off exhibition.
Somerset House will house the BFC catwalk show venue, the Portico Rooms presentation space, showrooms, Newgen sponsored by Topshop, exhibitors and sponsor lounges.
The space within 180 The Strand has been provided by Land Securities for the duration of London Fashion Week.
