Wellington played host to local couturière Robyn Cliffe earlier this month at the Museum Hotel where she showed off her latest elegant and exquisitely graceful bridal collection. The intimate affair had an exclusive guest list that included the designer’s close family and friends, brides-to-be as well as industry insiders.
The bridal pieces had an interesting juxtaposition of architectural pleating and complex draping that also hinted of a Grecian goddess-like elegance. Other design features such as tiny silk covered buttons along the back, beading and the choice of rich fabrics really set this collection apart from the rest. It was also refreshing to see that Cliffe presented the gowns on all-different body shapes and sizes, which shows that she truly targets a wide range of women.
Robyn Cliffe has 20 years of experience and expertise in the bridal couture business, catering for international customers. She has won several design awards including the prestigious Canterbury Top Designer Award in 2007.
The showcase of the designer’s collection was a huge success and we’re sure brides-to-be can’t wait to say ‘I do’ in one of her exquisite gowns.—Uma Lele
