TAFE NSW shows graduate collections at RAFW

News

May 7, 2010/3.58

TAFE NSW’s Fashion Design Studio graduate show took place on May 6 at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney. Its four selected designers, Elliot Ward-Fear, Christopher Dobosz, Nicholas Christensen and Caroline Fuss showed their collections to international media and professionals.
Fuss opened the show with a collection made of mostly pastel printed natural silks and linens. Dobosz’s collection was described as a post-apocalyptic Victorian take of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Christensen continued with dark romantic pieces for men and women, a stand-out piece being a head wrap partially covered in black Swarovski crystals. Elliot toyed with old world European glamour mixed with Asian æsthetics.
TAFE NSW’s alumni include Akira Isogawa, Nicky Zimmermann, Alex Perry, Michelle Jank, Lisa Ho and Dion Lee. It is the only fashion institution in Australia to secure a placement within Australia’s most prestigious annual fashion event, RAFW.
