Of all the designs that wound up in our world of late, the work of award-winning Hungarian Dora Abodi caught our eye.
Abodi won Designer of the Year at the Hungarian Fashion Awards a few weeks ago.
Having launched her label in March 2009, Abodi describes her work as funky, extravagant and avant-garde, seeking her inspiration from film icons and MTV. She also says she is addicted to contemporary literature and science fiction, especially cyberpunk.
Her autumn–winter 2010–11 collection appeals to the Life on Mars–Ashes to Ashes crowd here at Lucire, because of her David Bowie inspiration. Bowie Utopia references Bowie’s glam-rock period with shiny blues and greens. Abodi has introduced shoes and jewellery alongside her core clothing, headwear and handbag lines.
