October 5, 2010/9.03

Michael Hill Jeweller will launch a new competition, the Ultimate Engagement Ring: Search for the World’s Best Couple, in New York, fronted by American celebrity Kim Kardashian.
Kardashian will then take the 22¼ ct princess-cut diamond ring prize to Toronto and Chicago.
The competition will launch at 11 a.m. on October 18 at Brasserie Ruhlmann, 45 Rockefeller Center, West 50th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, New York. Kardashian will then appear from 7 p.m. at Pravda Restaurant, 44 Wellington Street East, Toronto. On October 19 at 9 p.m., Kardashian heads to the Michael Hill Water Tower Place store, Shop 4035, Water Tower Place, 835 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago.
The ring features graduating accent diamonds, grain set along the claws and shoulders, totalling 0·60 points and set in platinum, says the company in a release.
The contest is open to anyone over the age of 18, regardless of the couple’s status—whether they have just met, are engaged or have been married for 50 years. It is open to residents of the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, by registering at www.my22ct.com.
Couples who enter the competition will take part in a series of online challenges, with the top six adjudicated by expert judges. The winning couple will be flown to Chicago to receive their prize.
