Gucci celebrated its partnership with the Recording Academy at Baselworld by showing off its Grammy timepiece and jewellery collection, and announcing a preservation project being handled by the Grammy Museum.
Announced last October, the partnership sees Gucci supporting the Academy and, notably, this latest venture.
Recently unearthed archives being worked on by the Museum include more than 20,000 never-released master recordings of American music dating back to 1934, from jazz to early spiritual.
Gucci presented the project and a travelling exhibit detailing the work being done by the preservation programme at Basel, announced by Neil Portnow, President and CEO of the Recording Academy, Bob Santelli, Grammy Museum executive director, Patrizio di Marco, Gucci CEO, and Michele Sofisti, president of Gucci Timepieces & Jewellery.
‘It’s remarkable that an entire chapter of never-released American music has been discovered in this way. To have the opportunity to release these recordings and help tell their story is an honour,’ said Santelli.
