After 25 years of holding the top spot as the leading swimwear fashion brand in Scandinavia, Panos Emporio has decided to continue its success through to a clothing line for men and women. Continuing the launch of Panos Papadopoulos’s first clothing collection for spring 2011, the designer will launch the autumn–winter 2011–12 collection Rough Luxury, London/New York later this year. The day- and eveningwear items maintain the romantic feel from the previous Honeymoon collection, but have been roughed up to give a more worldwide luxury feel straight from the streets of New York or London.
The collection is full of style and individuality, mixing classic tweed dresses and men’s duffle coats with stone-washed denim and highly embellished and multi-textured skirts. The hand-dyed men’s knit sweaters and metallic silver women’s jeans lend an innovative flair. While the sophisticated sharp lines and tailoring of the men’s shirts, complete with contrasting buttons make these designs even more distinctive.
It is a very wearable collection, which covers almost every occasion and would suite a range of age groups. No doubt with such a selection of thick padded jackets, cosy coats, chunky woollen scarves and denims, there is no reason to feel the cold this season.
Panos Emporio is also planning a second retail store, continuing its vertical integration.—Vicki Matias
