Yves Saint Laurent: the Retrospective will take in Denver for its only North American stop between March 25 and July 8, 2012. Held at the Denver Art Museum, the exhibition features 200 haute couture outfits, and photographs, drawings and films.
The exhibition follows Saint Laurent from his work at Dior in 1958 through to his final collection in 2002.
Among the highlights are four sections: the Gender Revolution galleries, dealing with Saint Laurent’s breaking of gender rules in fashion; the Yves Saint Laurent and Women section, highlighting the famous names who wore his clothes, including Catherine Deneuve and HSH Princess Grace of Monaco; the Last Ball section, featuring his haute couture work; and the Colours of Yves Saint Laurent gallery, showing his fabric samples.
As part of the promotional effort, numerous Denver hotels are offering VIP packages, many of which are available via the Yves Saint Laurent Denver website.
The exhibition has been organized by the Fondation Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent and the non-profit Denver Art Museum.
