If you believe the publicity, The Hunger Games is poised to be the next teen sensation. The first in four films adapted from the popular novel, an artistic relationship between Hollywood stylist Cherry Petenbrink and Joico to establish the film’s look has begun.
Petenbrink says she wanted the look to be ‘trend-setting and visionary, not clown-like’, creating a style consisting of brights and pastels for the film’s leads and over 500 extras. Using Joico’s Vero K-Pak hair colour in a vast shade selection helped her vision come to life.
Adding an element to the challenge was protecting and perfecting the hair in the blazing North Carolina summer. She also reveals that Joico Design Collection Stylers, Dry Spray Wax and Humidity Blocker, Joico JoiMist firm hairspray and Joico Brilliantine Pomade were the go-to formulas for designing and maintaining the film’s futuristic hairstyles.

New additions to L’Oréal Paris Revitalift range
L’Oréal Paris’s new Revitalift Total Repair 10 Serum and Night Cream are the latest skin care products from the French giant.
The Revitalift Total Repair 10 Serum works in just one hour to hydrate skin, thanks to its Stimulift formula, which plumps the skin from within, and Adenosine, an anti-wrinkle ingredient combating the signs of ageing. The Revitalift Total Repair 10 Night Cream moisturizes, repairs and regenerates skin while you sleep, smoothing the skin’s surface and reducing the appearance of wrinkles, says the company.

Q-Silica’s new exfoliator
Looking for an exfoliator that doesn’t leave your skin raw? This question opens the door for the new Q-silica Revitalize Smoothing Facial Exfoliator (100 ml, NZ$24·95) to come into your skin care routine.
This product is infused with silica, a mineral that encourages youthful glow, as well as green tea and alœ that nourish your skin, ground bamboo to remove dead skin cells, and that handy vitamin B5 to enhance regeneration of new skin cells. We can’t forget the shea butter to help maintain skin elasticity and moisture.
There are no synthetic cocktails for your skin, just support from natural ingredients in Q-Silica’s skin care range.

Organic body wash by Kimi
With those cooler months looming ahead, it’s time for some skin TLC. Kimi’s organic body wash (100 ml, NZ$29) contains all organic products including shea butter and sunflower oil, which help replenish and moisturize the skin. Peppermint oil and rose otto oil help kick-start your morning beauty routine by leaving your skin feeling refreshed. Kimi’s organic body wash is completely soap-free, so it’s suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Billie believe it
A natural answer to sensitive skin has been found in Billie Goat Soap’s moisturizer for sensitive skin (250 ml, NZ$26·50).
The smoothing properties of natural goat’s milk instantly calms sensitive and reactive skin types. This isn’t just about what this moisturizer has in it, it’s also about what it doesn’t. Billie Goat Soap’s moisturizer boasts no parabens, SLS and artificial colouring.—Roanna Bell, Assistant Fashion Editor
