Cheryl Cole’s ‘Call My Name’ tops UK charts with strong first-week sales
Cheryl Cole’s new single, ‘Call My Name’, has débuted at the top of the UK charts with first-week sales at 152,001. It continues Cole’s trend of having sales of over 100,000 for the first singles from new albums, although the numbers are down on ‘Fight for This Love’ (292,846 in 2009) and ‘Promise This’ (157,210 in 2010).
The new single has pushed the Diamond Jubilee anthem, ‘Sing’, by Gary Barlow, down (falling to third place), and beating its record of 142,000 copies set last week. Flo Rida was second with ‘Whistle’.
The new song has been written and produced by Calvin Harris.
Among albums, however, Sing remained at number one for its third week, followed by Amy MacDonald’s Life in a Beautiful Light.
