To the layperson, it might not be as glamorous as the Festival de Cannes, but there’s no doubting that the Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia—the Venice Film Festival—has as much in the style stakes as its French rival.
Day two saw the première of The Iceman, a gangland film starring Michael Shannon, Ray Liotta, and Winona Ryder, and Superstar, a harsh critique about celebrity culture, starring Kad Merad.
Other celebrities we caught on day two included Gisella Marengo, Gabriella Wright, Cristiana Capotondi, Claudia Gerini and Barbora Bobulova.
Day three’s frenzy was reserved for heartthrob Zac Efron, who attended the première of Ramin Bahrani’s film, At Any Price, with his co-star Maika Monroe. There was also a première for the restoration of Il caso Mattei (The Mattei Affair), the winner of the 1972 Cannes Palme d’Or, at which Charlotte Casiraghi and Patrizio di Marco, were present.
Spotted on day three were Catrinel Menghia, Gabriella Wright, Heidi Jo Markel, Emanuela Postacchini, Fiammetta Cicogna, Hallie Elizabeth Newton (At Any Price’s screenwriter), Myriam Catania and Luca Argentero.
