Christie’s 50 Years of James Bond auction sees prized memorabilia sell for charity

An auction at Christie’s in South Kensington marking the James Bond films’ 50th anniversary has raised £752,052 (including buyers’ premiums) for charity.
   Celebrities included seven-time James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore, the current M, Dame Judi Dench, and David Walliams.
   The 2008 Aston Martin DBS from Quantum of Solace sold for £241,250. Daniel Craig’s swimming Grigio Perla trunks from Casino Royale, of which Dame Judi said, ‘They’re unwashed,’ achieved £44,450.
   The titanium Omega Seamaster Professional Planet Ocean watch from Skyfall reached £157,250. Craig’s Swiss-made charcoal Tom Ford suit from Skyfall, estimated to fetch £3,000–£5,000, sold for £30,000. His Tom Ford dinner suit went for a bit more, at £46,850.
   A third-scale replica of the Aston Martin DB5 used in Skyfall raised £61,250.
   A set of Ian Fleming’s works, estimated to sell at between £10,000 and £15,000, fetched £91,250.
   The orchestral score for the Skyfall’s theme song, signed by singer Adele and co-writer Paul Epworth, fetched £13,750. Sir Roger performed the score’s auction holding a Daniel Craig mask.
   Charities benefiting from the auction include Women for Women, UNICEF UK, Barnardo’s, ChildLine and Tickets for Troops.
