Lana Del Rey will début a 30-minute film, Tropico, on Vevo on December 5, which stars the singer as the Biblical Eve.
It is a three-part story on ‘sin and redemption’, beginning in the Garden of Eden and ends in modern-day Los Angeles, says Interscope Records, which is behind the release. It will feature music from Del Rey’s Born to Die—the Paradise Edition.
The film also stars model Shaun Ross and was directed by Anthony Mandler. Mandler previously directed Del Rey’s videos for ‘National Anthem’ and ‘Ride’.
The company notes, ‘Del Rey’s visual sensibility is rich and fantastical, and the movie’s running themes stay true to the concepts of Born to Die and Born to Die—the Paradise Edition: the loss of innocence, good v. evil, and trading beauty for money. The film puts closure on the two recordings, and features three songs from The Paradise Edition: “Body Electric”, “Gods and Monsters”, and “Bel Air”.’
The film will be available for streaming on Vevo apps and Vevo.com exclusively.
Born to Ride was Del Rey’s début album, which has sold five million copies.
