IT be 10 years already? In 1990, Bendon and its new premium brand, Elle
Macpherson Intimates, hit Australian and New Zealand retail stores more
strongly than any other lingerie label before that. Macpherson, riding
high as one of the people for whom the word 'supermodel' suited so well,
not to mention appearing in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue,
became even more of a household name that year, when network news programmes
on both sides of the Tasman Sea devoted coverage to the launch, not to
mention the personal appearance of the mini-skirted model at the top retailers.
Elle was the woman of the year.
