Therefore, the summer 2001 range is a little more grown-up,
appealing to a woman who knows who she is. There are sexy items, such
as the Straight Laced range
in chantilly lace, combining filigrees with a modern stretch-lace material.
New items such as the San Tropez bra, bikini (previous
page), G-string and cami, in white, black, peppermint and grape,
have been added to the Elle Macpherson label.
Blaze (left), combines beachwear styles in an
attempt to bridge genres, in turquoise with lime trim. Bayou (overleaf),
an animal design, is meant to represent a second skin,
giving
lingerie that sexy grrrl factor, according to Bendon.
Another print design, Calyxy, features flowers and contrast lace, in turqouise
and tangerine.
Colours remain in the mid-bright range, and like its
European rivals, Bendon expects women to mix and contrast. Cohen believes
that pink is the new classic: Pink shines with strong, gutsy shades
loaded with passion and depth, through to delicate versions with impressions
of fragility.
