ANOS EMPORIO has made the news several times over 2001. Company founder Panos Papadopoulos, for example, had been followed by Greek tabloid journalists mid-year concerning a proposed purchase of a football team, while the firm's sponsorship of Swedish lottery programme Bingo-Lotto—'the most popular TV show in Sweden', says Panos—raised the corporate profile substantially.
   However, the big news from this Swedish company is its foray into clothing and accessories. Spurred by Panos Emporio's growing brand recognition in Europe and Asia (Panos Emporio is a cult brand in Thailand, for instance), exposure on Bingo-Lotto, and the presence of popular northern European model Janina Frostell, the swimwear manufacturer extended its presence into new lines that, according to Panos, have the same philosophy as the original.
   'Our clothing, handbag and shoe ranges have proven to be hugely popular,' said the Greek-born designer. 'Our clothes have the same sensuality and sex appeal as our swimsuits and are also designed with the female form in mind—they are body-hugging but also comfortable and sensual to wear.
