The
darker shades continued to haunt the runways at Narciso Rodriguez,
which built its collection around grey, admittedly (and wisely)
with highlights to give it more character. Similarly, Lucire's
Richard Spiegel had earlier reported that Chaiken
built its collection around black, as did Private Circle. Lucire enjoyed Cynthia Rowley's
fallwinter 20023 collection, which were luxurious and
heavy, using everything from fur to mother-of-pearl. The coat was
the star here, while the theme seemed to be patchwork or quilting. Michael Kors, meanwhile, had an Aspen après-ski
feel to his collection, with warmer shades, and thankfully departed
from black itself. Notable was the designer's use of fur, including
fur leggings and a beige shearling long coat, and double-faced wool
such as a clutch coat. Shape-enhancing, Kors's fall line consisted
of glamorous coats and high-neck sweatersall with more American
luxury than Lincoln could ever come up with.
