ZFA showed denim and, with a relaxed and
feminine twist (isn't it always though?), short tops and long pants.
Simplicity is the key here with accents on pintucks and contrasting
stitching. An original collection with asymmetric hemlines and unusual
panels. A good collection from a respected designer who has had
a lifelong fascination with fashion.
Sophie Voon, expectant mum who has since rejected
the idea of starting a maternal line, showed florals with a definite
edge for her Voon label for springsummer. A modern
mix of pattern intertwined with individuality, this was the critics
choice for second-best collection of the night. Classic looks with
details such as ribbing mixed with floral prints destined for Voon's
two boutiques in the Chancery in Auckland and the Willis Street
Village in Wellington.
Nicola Screens collection might be
summarized Diesel meets peasant chick! It fits with the usual Screen
ethos of 'unkempt rawness' (her words) and 'muted shades' (ditto).
And what a pleasant surprise! Fluid cloth matched with sexy individual
skirts makes this a sojourn of original materials mixed with yesteryear
Sophia Loren! Colour choices were camel, white and black.
