Buckets was part of the Limited Editions by
Saben collection. The new design, which premièred at LOréal
New Zealand Fashion Week, comes in various fabrics but in the Limited
Edition collection, Jacobson created a series from natural wood
veneer, available strictly from her exhibition at Eon, an innovative
cafédesign retail store in Auckland.
Eon not only has Jacobson's work but designer
products, in an environment which allows customers to relax and
appreciate good design, rather than be confronted with the hard
sell.
Another custom Jacobson technique for the Limited
Editions is her use of poker-work. This is similar to cuerro
gofrado, but the surface is burned with the design in the same
principle as a branding iron, potentially resulting in complex patterns.
Each Limited Edition bag is, therefore, unique.
Since she founded Saben in 1999, Jacobson has
carved out a niche for the label as New Zealand’s top accessories
brand. Saben is now stocked in over 30 outlets throughout Australasia.
