Pierre Cardin, the 80-year old legendary fashion designer was overheard remarking, ‘In fashion, you must provoke. You must be provocative.’ The most visible recipient was Roberto Cavalli, taking the fashion and design award for Italy. Sean (P. Diddy) Combs, for the USA, Manolo Blahnik for Britain, and Viktor and Rolf for France, were his counterparts for the honours.
Cavalli, who was photographed with many glamorous celebrities wearing his gowns, said of fashion today, ‘It is all about fantasy, that is what interests me. My designs come from my fantasies.‘

All in all, everyone was quite relaxed as they downed their Maker's Mark Le Provocateur cocktail, created especially for the event.
