Joe's Jeans
Joe Dahan presented Joe's Premium, a jeans line with a couture
feel, through a theatrical demonstration through the combing of
modern dance and modern cuts. The show opened with native Japanese
artist Oguri, who performed Butoh, a dance which was established
in post-WWII Japan. Oguri would dance throughout the show, as models
systematically walked and marched weaving in and out from eachother
and the dancer. This was a highly creative and innovative display
of light, colour, movement and music. A vivid but somehow drab and
thought-provoking way to end the evening. With all this concerned,
it was difficult to focus on the clothing, and the collection was
pulled to the side in comparison to the awe encompassing environment.
I was drained as the show culminated to a whirlwind of choreographed
marching models and building sound. Sixties mod was again
the focus of the clothing, stripes, mismatched patterns and bright
colours added to my dizzying head. Kudos to the staff, for making
this one hell of a show to remember.
