   A glance at the product range reveals a colourful range—though such a description may be expected from a company based in Brazil. Another expected attribute, which can easily apply to My Bikini Brazil’s range, is fun: the idea is that beachwear should be worn and be expressive. Clean stitching, lining and, in some cases, padded moulded cups mean greater comfort. Finally, its black triangle-top bikini is sexy thanks to design more than colour.
   My Bikini Brazil has largely favoured lighter shades, which contrasts nicely with the more sombre shades emerging from some mass-market labels.
   What is not expected are hand-made crochet bikinis and halter tops retailing for $35 and $25, until one realizes that there is immense local talent when it comes to manufacture in Santa Catarina. These Tammy Baldinoare distinctive items which probably express the Brazilian style more to foreigners. They are also the items which, in this magazine’s opinion, provide My Bikini Brazil with its strongest difference—national origins aside.
   The appeal of Brazil seems such a obvious notion that it is surprising not more have attempted it. Baldino, meanwhile, believes firmly that its from-the-ground-up exporting structure will keep My Bikini Brazil at the forefront of labels from that country, plus its multicultural sensibility. It is most likely a combination of Brazilian appeal (hence the incorporation of the country of origin in the name) and cultural sensitivity that have contributed to the label's success to date. •
