KEANAN DUFFTY,
a British-born musician-turned-designer, has always believed music
and fashion go hand-in-hand. His menswear collections are infused
with an defiant go-your-own-way attitude, rock-and-roll elements
and British iconography, with him utilizing the Union Jack is all
over his creations. Therefore, much like the United States Supreme
Court Justices who couldn't really define pornography but they ‘knew
it when they saw it,’ I couldn't quite wrap my mind around his spring
2005 collection but I know what I liked about it.
Despite the fact that the general presentation
was little bit out there, I also felt that this was
one of the most inventive and exciting menswear collection of the
entire week. I was quite taken with the crazy quilt way in which
he threw the individual looks together. Even while one was trying
to absorb it all, I saw the beautiful cut of the suits, the easy
fit of the textured T-shirts, the sweaters, vests and the other
tops shown. He has a clear affinity with men who are individualistic
dressers and young men who dress to stand out from among the crowd.
However, he made sure that he was also addressing the needs of men
who are looking to jazz up their otherwise boring wardrobe by giving
them pieces that weren't too, shall we say, shocking to the system.
He likewise showed a collection of womenswear pieces that were actually
quite lovely.
