Party time As for the concerts, words just aren't enough to describe the
energy and liveliness of this six-day atmosphere. Masses of fans
gathered and vigorously yelled the name of Sir Paul McCartney as
he got ready to inaugurate the first day of the event.
Passionate crowds were blessed every single day
with the 'filet mignon' of music variety and styles. Whether a head-banger
or just plain music lover, I was constantly surprised by concerts
on the main stage or just by the hot dog stand where a Tribal performance
was about to start.
As for my favourites, I "shook my booty off"
with Black Eyed Peas in order to forget Britney's earlier performance
that same day where most people (even kids) swore was a playback
performance.
Alicia Keys was also one of my favourites, not
only because of her fabulous voice but because this girl really
knows her moves. For those who haven't heard her newest album, do
yourselves a favour and buy it because it's a keeper.
Unfortunately, Amy Lee from Evanescence was not
at her best since she got sick right before their performance. Nevertheless,
she tried her best and still gave a "ass-whipping" performance.
As for Sting, I must say it was also a great performance
for the closing of Rock in Rio.
The closing down Just like anything that's good, Rock in Rio had to come to an
end! Sting was the last International performer to enter the main
stage and blow the crowd away with new versions of 'Every Breath'
and some of his latest singles.
In all, 120,000 people attended the festival this
day in order to guarantee their presence in what they thought would
be a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Fortunately for those who simply loved this luxurious
summer festival, a press conference with Roberto Medina that very
same afternoon confirmed Rock in Rio Lisboa would once again play
in Portugal in 2006.
So, to all music fanatics all over the world,
surfers and partygoers that have read this piece and were wondering
where to spend your summer holidays in 2006, Lisboa is the place
to be whether for great music, fun, food and sandy white beaches!
