I am pleased to report that fashion editor Sopheak Seng has been discharged from hospital—those who follow his Tweets know he was laid up there this weekend. Please feel free to send him some good wishes via his Twitter account at @fashiondarlin.
Duck Duck Go, our search engine of choice, has very kindly added a Lucire “bang” to its service.
This means that when you search on its site, you can add !Lucire to the end, and instead of Duck Duck Go’s own search, you get ours.
The equivalent on Google would be to type site:lucire.com in the main part of the search engine, but you would still be searching on the Google site.
We are not telling you where to search, but at least this development gives you a choice.
To commemorate this addition—the same privilege was also given to Vogue (!vogue), British Vogue (!vogueuk) and BlackBook (!blackbookmag)—we’ve upgraded our search pages. We’ve also made it clearer that there is a difference between searching this news section and the main part of the site, just as there is for many search engines.
As users of Duck Duck Go know, it has had similar commands for more general sites for ages, such as Amazon (!amazon), Google News (!gn), YouTube (!video), and Ebay (!eb or !ebay). A full list can be found here. It makes for far quicker and more direct searching.
Meanwhile, Elyse Glickman’s tour of Taiwan, which followed mine, is now online. She got to see quite different things to me, which is great, meaning readers get the best of both worlds.—Jack Yan, Publisher
