Supermodel Linda Evangelista is grabbing the headlines, taking Pinault–Printemps–Redoute (PPR) chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault to court over support for their five-year-old son, Augustin, in New York.
PPR, which controls the Gucci Group, among others, was founded by Pinault’s father. Pinault himself is said to be worth US$3,000 million, according to Evangelista’s lawyer, William Beslow.
Some media report that Evangelista is seeking US$46,000 per month in child support. Beslow acknowledges the amount is high, but denies it is US$46,000.
The amount would cover round-the-clock child care and armed guards.
Pinault’s lawyer, David Aronson, claims that Evangelista’s annual income was US$1·8 million for the four years prior to her support claim.
Evangelista and Pinault had a four-month relationship in 2006. She had supported their son but filed suit against Pinault in 2010 after her contract with L’Oréal Paris ended in 2010, and after earlier child support negotiations broke down, says Beslow.
Pinault is currently married to actress Salma Hayek.
