July 19, 2012/10.20

Lauren Conrad has put her name to travel accessories

River Island says it will collaborate with pop star Rihanna, who will design her first clothing collection for the British brand. It will launch in spring 2013 and include women’s dresses and other apparel, says the company.
Ben Lewis, CEO of River Island, said in a release, ‘We are thrilled to be collaborating with Rihanna and to be the first fashion brand to work with her in this way. Rihanna is a style icon, from street to chic she enjoys her fashion. As soon as we started to work together we knew this was a perfect fit. Rihanna will be designing the collection and we will be sharing our fashion experience with her to develop a range her fans will love.’
Rihanna said in the same release, ‘I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family-run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.’
Meanwhile, Lauren Conrad, no stranger to creating her own fashion collections for sale through major retailers, has launched a BlueAvocado XO (Eco) line of sustainable and reusable lifestyle products made with Repreve recycled fibres. BlueAvocado says this is the first ‘first celebrity portfolio designed entirely to reduce waste and conserve natural resources, and includes nearly 20 food-on-the-go, travel and cosmetic storage accessories.’
Conrad designed the prints for the range. The collection is now available at
There are baggies, and travel and beauty accessories in the range.
