When we saw some of the publicity pictures of cars these past few years, we knew the 1970s were threatening to come back: bright greens at Ford, oranges at Subaru among them, as evidenced at Autocade.
Fiat has been more explicit with its fashionable 500. The retro-chic car, which was inspired by the 500 of 1957, is sporting 1970s colours with its Colour Therapy range. With five colours available—Pasodoble Red, Countrypolitan Yellow, Volaré Blue, New Age Cream and Tech House Grey. The wheels are meant to recall whitewalls, while the hubcaps are intentionally retro. Inside, there’s a “pool ball” gear knob.
Fiat says it has brought the 1970s theme in for the 500 given fashion trends. Photographer Elisabeth Hoff has already shot the 500 in a retro-inspired shoot, using colour blocking as a technique.
The range begins at £10,760 and hits UK dealers later this month.
