Kicking off 2025’s Hollywood gala events were the 36th Palm Springs International Film Awards held at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Friday, presented by Silvercrest, Arco, IHG Hotels and Resorts, and sponsored by Entertainment Tonight.
Adrien Brody (for The Brutalist) and Angelina Jolie (for Maria) won the Desert Palm Achievement Awards for actor and actress, presented by Andrew Garfield and Jacqueline Bisset respectively. The Vanguard Award was presented by Alan Cumming to Jacques Audiard, Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoë Saldaña, Selena Gómez and Édgar Ramírez for Emilia Pérez. The Chairman’s Award, presented by Gary Oldman, went to Timothée Chalamet for A Complete Unknown.
For Babygirl, Nicole Kidman took home the International Star Award again, presented by Jamie Lee Curtis. The Ensemble Performance Award, presented by Edward Berger, went to Conclave: Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, Isabella Rossellini, John Lithgow and Lucian Msamati.
Jennifer Coolidge presented the Rising Star Award to Ariana Grande for her role in Wicked. The Spotlight Award went to Colman Domingo for Sing Sing, presented to him by Demi Moore.
The Sonny Bono Visionary Award went to Denis Villeneuve for his film, Dune: Part Two, presented to him by Timothée Chalamet and Amy Adams.
A Real Pain’s Kieran Culkin and Anora’s Mikey Madison won the Breakthrough Performance Award for actor and actress respectively, presented by Sharon Stone and Isabella Rossellini.
Other celebrities and VIPs attending included Nachhattar Singh Chandi, the chair of the festival, and artistic director Lili Rodríguez; also Fariz Arif Ansari, Edward Burns, Christy Turlington, Jon M. Chu, Dan Cohen (president, Republic Pictures), producer–directror James Duff, Jesse Eisenberg, Cynthia Erivo, Phillip Keene, Udo Kier, Greg Kwedar, Clarence Maclin, Halina Reihn, William Rodríguez of Silvercrest, James Sweeney, Mary Hart, Tanya Lapointe, Georgina Chapman, and Zahara Marley Jolie.
