Dyson’s Supersonic r hairdryer is the company’s most powerful and lightest, promising more shine and no heat damage.
The original Supersonic used a streamlined heater and radio frequency identification sensors to adjust the motor and heater for optimal airflow and temperature. Dyson has improved on the technology and has come up with the Supersonic r, 30 per cent smaller, 20 per cent lighter, more manœuvrable, with claimed fast-drying, smoother and shinier results.
Its first test was during the autumn 2024 shows in Paris, available only to professional stylists. After being tested in a professional setting, by the likes of Sam McKnight, Eugene Souleiman and Lacy Redway, Dyson has decided to put the Supersonic r on sale, retailing at NZ$849 in two colours, Ceramic Pink and Jasper Plum, the latter exclusive to dyson.co.nz.
The official launch of the consumer version takes place in Paris, with Dyson collaborating at fashion week with Chloé and its stylist Gary Gill. Dyson is also introducing a Styling Menu at select Dyson Demo flagship stores, based on five looks ‘Styled with r’ curated from trend predictions from the company’s 50 global styling ambassadors.
