James May is heading to Australia, New Zealand and Singapore to present his live show, Explorers—the Age of Discovery, hitting Perth (Riverside Theatre, July 29), Adelaide (AEC Theatre, July 31), Canberra (Llewellyn Hall, August 2), Melbourne (MEC, August 5), Brisbane (City Hall, August 7), Hobart (Federation Hall, August 10), Auckland (KTK Theatre, August 13), Wellington (Opera House, August 15), Sydney (State Theatre, August 20), and Singapore (Capitol Theatre, August 22 and 23).
The former Autocar writer (known for his ‘England Made Me’ column and an infamous road test yearbook), and Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter will bring to life the stories of extraordinary explorers, starting with the Ice Age and on to space.
May will examine the ancient hunter–gatherers, through to Lief Ericson, John Cabot, Tupaia, Stanley and Livingstone, Gertrude Bell, the moon walkers, and the ideas of interplanetary and intergalactic travel.

The UK leg of Explorers follows from September 30, beginning in Woking (New Victoria Theatre), then to Bath (Forum Theatre, October 1), Cambridge (Corn Exchange, October 2), Bristol (Hippodrome, October 3), Brighton (Brighton Centre, October 4), Stockton (Globe Theatre, October 7), Glasgow (Royal Concert Hall, October 9), London (Barbican Hall, October 14), Stoke-on-Trent (Victoria Hall, October 15), Manchester (O2 Apollo, October 16), Edinburgh (Usher Hall, October 17), Nottingham (Concert Hall, October 19), Liverpool (Philharmonic Hall, October 20), Oxford (New Theatre, October 21), and Southampton (O2 Guildhall, October 23).
