One of the most intriguing looks on days 6 and 7 at the 78th Festival de Cannes had to be Zoey Deutch channelling Jean Seberg, as she did in the movie Nouvelle Vague, the bio-pic about the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s À bout de souffle (Breathless).
For the photo call, Deutch wore a reproduction of the Chanel haute couture spring–summer 1956 bustier dress. Seberg wore the original, now owned by the Patrimoine de Chanel, in the film. Chanel also re-created the Massaro shoes, and researched the fabric of the original design. The silhouette was re-created using traditional techniques inherited from Gabrielle Chanel.
Halle Berry, on the Cannes jury, wore a Chanel jacket and pant suit in beige Moroccan crêpe, embroidered with with beaded flowers, overlaid with embroidered tulle, look 5 from the house’s haute couture spring–summer 2025 collection, to the première of The Phœnician.
Chanel ambassador Nana Komatsu, chose a black gown with train in black lace and silk chiffon from the prêt-à-porter spring–summer 2025 collection, complemented by Chanel jewellery in white gold and diamonds, at the première of the film in which she stars, Exit 8. At the photo call, Komatsu went with look 36 from the autumn–winter 2025–6 collection, a black patent leather mini-dress, with Chanel accessories.
L’Oréal ambassadors Cinta Laura Kiehl and Doukissa Nomikou Theodoridi shone at their red-carpet events, as did Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Trois hommes et un couffin, Emily in Paris), the newly appointed ambassador at her first Festival de Cannes in this role.
