Fahad Al Jomaiah and Khalid Al Jammaz’s trail-blazing luxury streetwear label, 1886, has taken another step into internationalizing their brand.
They have partnered with Russian watchmaker Raketa with a limited-edition collection called First in Space, celebrating Saudi Arabia’s space legacy. It was in 1985 when HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud became the first Arab, Muslim, and royal to go to space. The Saudi Space Commission (see Lucire KSA May 2022) launched missions that positioned the KSA as a global leader in space exploration.
This capsule collection comprises a Raketa Space Launcher watch with Saudi-inspired detailing, and space-inspired fashion pieces, including gloves modelled on spacesuits.
The Space Launcher features a green Aventurine stone dial with a 24-hour scale and eastern Arabic numerals, a central rotating disc with a detailed map of the KSA, a 43 mm stainless steel case with sapphire glass and 20 m water resistance, an in-house automatic movement and 40-hour power reserve, and a while fabric strap with an additional green fabric strap.
The capsule is limited to 60 collector sets of the Space Launcher watch and gloves, each uniquely numbered.
The collaboration, years in the making, is the work of CLÉ, Raketa and 1886.
