Lace Manhattan, the alter ego of actress Margaret Qualley, has released two songs, ‘Oddwadd’ and ‘In the Sun She Lies’ with accompanying music videos co-starring and directed by Dixie Normus, better known as actress Talia Ryder.
The two very different songs have been produced by Qualley’s husband, musician and producer Jack Antonoff, and co-written by Ethan Coen, and will appear in Coen’s film Honey Don’t!, hitting cinemas on August 22. The film, a dark comedy about Honey O’Donahue, a private investigator who looks into a series of strange deaths tied to a church, stars Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, and Chris Evans. Coen and Tricia Cooke wrote the script.
Lace Manhattan and Dixie Normus were inspired by moments on the set of Honey Don’t, and in the studio with Antonoff. The project is the creation of Qualley, Ryder, Antonoff and Cohen.
‘Oddwadd’ is heavily electronic while ‘In the Sun She Lies’ is simpler and guitar-dominant.
