There’s a welcome item for the Academy Award-winning actress who has been in the news recently: Nicole Kidman is Chanel’s new ambassador.
Kidman, a five-time Oscar nominee and the best actress winner for The Hours (2003), and a six-time Golden Globe winner, has been associated with Chanel since 2003, when she starred in a No. 5 fragrance campaign directed by Baz Luhrmann. Formally, she worked with the house for five years. She has worn Chanel on the red carpet on many occasions.
She is also a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, and an advocate for women’s rights and for women in cinema, having pledged in 2017 to work with female directors every 18 months, a commitment which she has exceeded.
Kidman said in a release, ‘I am thrilled to be joining Chanel as it begins its new chapter with Matthieu at the helm. As someone who has such an appreciation for haute couture, I am so looking forward to witnessing Matthieu’s vision for the oldest haute couture house still in operation and having the opportunity to wear what I know will be gorgeous creations. Chanel has always been ahead of the curve, shining a smart and gracious light on women, and I am sure Matthieu will be no exception, just like Karl did in his time.’
Matthieu Blazy, the new creative director of Chanel, added, ‘From the unforgettable Baz Luhrmann film to her countless red carpet looks, Nicole has always been part of the history of the house. Free and ever-changing, she is for me the embodiment of the Chanel woman. I know we also share a genuine passion for craft and savoir-faire. Having worked with Nicole in the past and now reuniting with her at Chanel is a dream come true and couldn’t make me happier.’
Kidman attended the Chanel spring–summer 2026 show in Paris where Blazy unveiled his first collection for Chanel.
Earlier this year, Kidman was named Clé de Peau Beauté’s global ambassador.
Nicole Kidman was Chanel No. 5’s ambassador from 2003 to 2008, before handing the reins to Audrey Tatou.
