Christy Turlington, one of the world’s best known
models and arguably one for whom the term supermodel was coined,
appears in the H&M campaign which will be seen in 13 countries, including
the United States.
Turlington is one of the industry’s best-known
faces. She is heavily involved in anti-smoking activism, having lost her
father to lung cancer and risking her own life as well when diagnosed
with emphysema. Though her condition is incurable, due to her starting
smoking at an early age when she stole a packet of her father‘s cigarettes,
it is not expected to worsen.
Her condition had been spotted when she volunteered
to demonstrate a lung scan. Normally it is not caught till later in life.
