If Emilio Cavallini can create variety within the limits of tights and stockings, then it stands to reason he can create variety within the comfort zone of potential customers

   But if you are like the Lucire team, then you will prefer something that doesn't succumb to established rules yet is refined and distinctive. The best balance for fall, in this magazine's opinion, has to be the collection of Emilio Cavallini. There may have been a black base to many of the items, but Cavallini took the courage to go beyond it.
   Jeremy Scott may have amazed and we dearly loved him for it, but Cavallini showed what was possible and comfortable. With a name in signature hosiery, Cavallini clearly understands comfort—85 million tights and stockings bearing his name roll of production lines each year—and with a collection of tubes, dresses and knits, in solid shades and geometric patterns, the Italian designer had the most enduring, chic and colourful début collection at New York Fashion Week for fall–winter 2002–3.
   If he can create variety within the limits of tights and stockings, then it stands to reason he can create variety within the comfort zone—and we mean that in two senses—of potential customers. He’s a definite favourite at this magazine. Watch this space.
