 Toypes
One of the most established labels in Spain, dating from 1978, Toypes
exports to the US, Mexico, Sweden,
Saudi Arabia and other locations.
And yet being part of the establishment hasn’t
dulled Toypes’s creativity. We were taken back to Breakfast at
Tiffany’s as Toypes’s autumn–winter 2004–5 looks appeared: an
off-the-shoulder dress in green and black, complemented by a clutch
bag called Holly; a dress and wrap with untidy but passionate hand-lettering;
even a pair of black pants that was a bit further away from Hepburn
but with Holly emblazoned on the right leg in pink all the
same. Just as a black Tiffany appeared in large letters on
another top. These designs did not go lightly, especially a black
jacket more at home in Grease than Tiffany’s.
Or was this Breakfast at Toypes’?The traditional green box
was replaced by a logoed Toypes yellow one—and it was colours galore,
from a pink coat to an orange rendition of Hepburn’s black Givenchy
dress.
