Legend has it that parts of Elle wound up in student flats around Australasian cities. At least one male staff member at Lucire remembers seeing what he calls a 'shrine' to Elle made up of 1990 catalogue pages in a friend's dorm room.
   Bendon itself admitted that at the time the campaign was ‘a body-blow to an industry that had certainly become staid.’ If you think back to 1990, it was a time of change but design-wise, it was also one of austerity.
