Its catalogues had always been sexy, feminine and beautifully photographed, but pre-Elle they did not form part of the national psyche like Victoria's Secret or Wonderbra enjoyed in the United States and Britain in the 1990s. Here was a regional campaign of a local brand that had beaten international brands to the market-place, with products (then) manufactured domestically.
