'I diversified from the core beachwear range to
fulfil our customers' desire to be able to wear Panos Emporio away
from the beach, and in the evenings.'
The process had begun earlier. Panos Emporio was
already diversifying from its core beachwear lines with a range of
gowns in 1999, although these appealed to the same core customer.
Innovation in 2000 with Panos's ingenious Paillot, an item that converts
from a swimsuit to bikini to mini-skirt (shown in Lucire
in April) prepared the company for a wider range of offerings.
Sensuality continues to be a theme for much of Panos
Emporio's core range in 2001. Formally trained with a sociology degree,
Panos Papadopoulos came to understand the way people acted in groups;
in the beachwear context, the designs had to be sexy and stylish for
reasons beyond æsthetics. |
